We could do that, yes. Kyle, Lucifer, and I already talked about what we learned from her separately. I wrote it down in the library although it's only readable right now to people who know where to look for it.
[ Meaning she could easily find eachoftheir conversations if she wanted to. ]
I hadn't considered telling everyone but I suppose that would only be fair. Hiding that kind of information isn't helpful.
I went to speak with her along with Henry, another telepath here in Solvunn. We didn't poke into her mind. We just had direct questions, thinking she'd be too arrogant to not answer them.
I'm just — worried some people will not be able to get closure. Many didn't get it from her execution.
I found her very quick to answer truthfully too, to my surprise. I connected with her mind thinking she would be harder to crack.
[ The two of them could not be fooled by anyone, so she really was just who she said. ]
If you think it will help, we can ask the others who interrogated her and have everyone available to answer questions. Not that we know everything, but so it's all clear.
I was disappointed she had no idea who the original shrines were to. Further ignorance though.
I'm of the mind that she was on the verge of delusion, and way over her head. She used ancient texts and consulted rites that suggested the possibility of making a connection with the gods.
For all we know, she might have done a lot of damage for nothing.
[and that sits foul with her. the gall to try and do something like this without much certainty of what the goal was.]
But, let's do that. If we have to retell what we uncovered while looking for you guys and what we found out after from Josselyn, so be it.
I want there to be transparency.
[a selfish thing, maybe, but she knows what it's like to be part of something and be left in the dark, questions unanswered.]
It's possible, she was definitely unstable. I don't think she was entirely incorrect, they did tap into something during their vision. But she was incorrect that the people of this world can take it from us. Thorne has attempted that before, and Free Cities probably has too quietly.
I don't think anyone's been avoiding transparency, it's just not easy to talk about. Even I need breaks from re-reading about the experience.
[she doesn't think 'transparency' is the word she's looking for, but wanda's always... struggled a little bit with communicating how she feels cohesively. she just hopes someone else can understand what she feels, put those sentiments into words for her.
wise words, hopefully.]
Maybe not so much... talking about it, but a report of sorts. So everyone knows. I don't want to make it more upsetting for anyone who was taken.
No, I agree, I think even if remembering it is difficult, knowing the whys could mean something to people. I wouldn't have interrogated her myself if I didn't think finding out why she did it would be a relief. I don't know if the whys will be reassuring or start new questions, but if it does the latter, maybe they are answers we can find ourselves.
[—is what she offers. maybe they really won’t be able to have immediate answers to certain questions, but knowing that those questions exist beats not even having the slightest idea of what to expect.]
We can write up a new chapter afterwards with those questions.
Agreed, just let me know how you want to tell everyone.
I am hoping we can find the shrine monster eventually. It was talking to all of us, manipulating us into releasing it. It seemed like a giant creature in the end, but it's clearly sentient and smart. We don't know where it went.
We can’t exactly write it down and hand out copies. What if we compiled the information from others, and made it a very simple and short list, then shared it with our mental connection?
If it’s as big as many have described, it shouldn’t be so hard to find. Right?
[though the ocean and the skies offer a vast space to hid in, certainly.]
That works for me. It also won't invite too may follow up questions if we make it clear this truly is all we know. Not that I mind asking questions, it's just likely to lead to 'I have no idea' responses.
The ocean is very large and deep and that is where it went, so probably not. Unless we get a ship and sail around hoping to get its attention.
Yes. That sounds alright by me. And I think what we might need more than a ship is a submarine, but I don't think even the Cities have technology like that yet. I may be wrong.
Giving this some more thought, I think that... perhaps... we could open the floor to things that can only be investigated in each different faction. If this situation with Josselyn taught us anything, is that while a lot was done in Thorne and the Cities, a lot of the answers we needed were in Solvunn. We should touch base more, I think.
[maybe something for the representatives of each faction to converse over...]
I agree. There is a huge gap of information between the factions, and the Summoned really need to be as informed as possible going forward. Looking back at what Sam and Natasha put together in the Horizon while we were taken, nothing would have been accomplished if all of you didn't push one another and communicate. I don't want that to be lost now that we're back. That won't be the last time we're in danger.
I hate that I agree with you that it won't be the last time we're in danger. As we learn more about this world, we have no choice but to remain more vigilant. We know now that our position as Summoned has its benefits, but it also makes us very easy targets for these kinds of things.
We're aliens here. It makes it very easy for people to 'other' us, like Thorne putting us in prison early on or the experiments to try and take our Singularity connection. Now it's just showing up in the other factions more clearly.
This is why I've encouraged Lucifer to make a ceasefire with his enemies here. We don't have the time to get held up on past world conflict. We need to be allies here if we're going to survive it.
[don’t put too much of a cage on lucifer, istredd…]
Agreed.
Should we gather some information and then meet in your Horizon afterwards? Might be worth for the new batch of Summoned to also be aware of what happened.
That is true, although the people that go to the meeting could communicate to the people who didn't what went on. But yes, we can address it in multiple ways. As more things happen, it becomes clearer to me that the Summoned should stick together.
