Several magical skills that I'm aware of, it's possible I have more and have never found them. My limbs stretch extensively, I can blind people instinctively, I can memorize entire texts word for word, and most strangely, I can change the length of my hair. From our experience in April, I now have veins that glow like stars during high emotion, something that I did as a god.
I'm a mage, I'm used to magical abilities. They were strange at first, but common enough afterward.
I'd say every few months, although it is hard to tell for certain. It may be people have gained abilities and never find out because they don't know to instigate it. Mine showed accidentally.
The stretching came when I was reaching for a book on a high shelf. The blinding happened while hunting. Memorizing books just became evident as I read them. The hair I didn't control at all, it just happened. I am uncertain when exactly these skills were bestowed since they happened by happenstance. You may already have one.
In my home, I was an archaeologist studying magical stones nearly the size of the Singularity called monoliths. They were considered scarring from an incident long before in history when many spheres - worlds - crashed into each other and became one. I found out later that monoliths were in fact gates to other realms and all those worlds still existed.
When I came here, I already had background for magical objects. At the time I thought perhaps the Singularity was the same, until I found out it is in fact more of an entity with power and expression of its own. I believe it is connected to other spheres through the multiverse and has important ties we should not ignore. I think it is important to study its properties so we can understand it.
I'm afraid all I can do is study it. There are Summoned here who have managed to spiritually connect to it.

I've done study into the rock itself and to the crater around it. The reason for that is I wished to see if it was the ground itself that killed natives, but no, it is the power emanating from the Singularity. The rock is just a visual representation, it's not in it. It's all around us. Honestly I don't think there is a way to truly understand it, because it is not anywhere close to human, it is its own species.
Why it wants to give us power and have us ascend, it's also unclear. It made a connection with each of us the moment we were captured.
From what I have been told, they don't get direct answers out of it, because it doesn't communicate like a human does. It speaks through feelings or metaphors rather than words.
I'm certain there is, but since there isn't a direct communication, it's hard to say. People do seem to have a better chance of getting answers from the gods at this point. One of them in particular, Umbvagher, has given us more information than any other.
I encourage you to go visit the Singularity and see if it'll communicate to you the way it does others. As far as I can tell it hasn't hurt anyone for it, a friend of mine had his connection for years in a positive way.
