Do you plan on going that path again? I assume being back in your human form would be a difficult adjustment.

No. The technology I used to enact such augmentation would be too dangerous in the hands of the Free Cities. I don't have the power I did in the imagined future--I would not be able to hide it from them.

It is likely that is the road we will eventually go down, we will get those powers again. The "New Gods" were like us once, thousands of years ago.

Now that we know what may be coming, I have a chance to stop it.

And how do you expect to stop it? We're already well on the path.

By discovering the nature of our connection to the Singularity, and using it to leave this world.

The daunting nature of the task is no excuse not to try.

Home, maybe. Some version of it. Perhaps somewhere else. The possibilities would be limitless.

I've been researching trying to find a way to anchor people who want to stay to the Singularity, to this sphere. It's possible finding it could also have an answer for a counterspell.

Yes, theoretically it should work both ways. Those who want to stay, can, and those who don't can leave.

That is the hope. Then again, I wonder if that hope is why the Singularity speaks to others but never to me.

It doesn't speak to me. But I haven't exactly reached out to it, either.

How do you expect to learn the nature of our connection to the Singularity without understanding the Singularity itself better?

I admit I have always approached magic from a technological angle, having no inherent ability of my own. Thorne obviously did not devise the Summoning ritual with the connection to the Singularity that we have. I believe it can be done—and I do not trust the Singularity not to interfere, in its own way, should I reach out to it.

Hm, I suppose that is where we are opposites, as I know nothing of technology and a great deal about magic. The spell is magic and as far as I can imagine, technology would not be able to supersede it here. Unless there is a way for technology to teleport people to other realms safely.

Technology alone, no. But technology and magic working together…can accomplish so much more.
