If anyone was being captured they'd all know, although Istredd doesn't know that Cirilla is being kidnapped so they can do just as much damage within their own ranks truthfully. But the gone seems very final. Lucifer's never told him exactly that he's dead or destroyed or whatever it is in his sphere, but Istredd already guessed. Which means this was his only chance to be with his son.
